Shelbyville to host State Championship Chili Bowl 3.27.2009: Shelbyville Times-Gazette: Knoxville's loss is Shelbyville's gain. When a group applied for and qualified to hold the Tennessee State Chili Cookoff Championship in UT Town, it never got around to actually holding the event. Dollar General Sales Soar In Recession 3.25.2009 Dayton Business Journal: In a year when many retailers have taken it on the chin, Dollar General Corp.’s earnings rose 48 percent in the fourth quarter of 2008 compared to the same period a year ago. Knoxville Student Wins State Contest! 3.23.2009 tn.gov: NASHVILLE – Suzanna Pickering, a fifth-grader at St. Joseph’s School in Knoxville was recently named state winner in the 2009 Tennessee Arbor Day Poster Contest. Second place was a tie, with honors going to Piper Mandle, Dogwood Elementary School in Germantown and Mary Logan Yancey, Bethel Springs Elementary School in Bethel Springs.
